How does it work (what makes it hi viz)?
Hi-viz clothing works through two distinct scientific principles that tackle different lighting conditions:
- Fluorescence (Daytime): Fluorescent pigments (usually Yellow, Orange, or Red) absorb invisible ultraviolet (UV) light from the sun and re-emit it as visible light. This makes the fabric appear to "glow," providing a 200–300% increase in detection distance compared to standard colors.
- Retroreflection (Nighttime): Standard reflective tape uses glass beads or micro-prisms to bounce light directly back to its source (like car headlights). Modern micro-prismatic technology is now the 2026 standard, offering superior visibility at wider angles than older glass-bead versions.

These are typically printed with the company logo on the front, or back and are an affordable option for companies with a large workforce.
